Soyuz brings three station fliers home after four months in space

Read more...After spending four months in orbit in ISS Indian-American Sunita Williams along with two fellow astronauts safely returned to Earth. Russia's Yuri Malenchenko and Akihiko Hoshide of Japan were two other austronauts who landed on the steppes of central Kazakhstan.

Russian Space Flight Control Centre announced that the Soyuz TMA-05M carrying three astronauts touched down as scheduled just before 0200 GMT in the town of Arkalyk. They landed an hour before sunrise a few miles from the target northeast of Arkalyk in central Kazakhstan. NASA TV telecasted this event live in united states.

Officials from the russian space agency reported that it was a perfect landing for Williams and two astronauts. Search party including helicopters rushed to the site as the capsule parachuted down some 35 kilometres from the planned touchdown site due to some procedural delay.

Wikipedia enables HTML 5 video for all sister websites

Read more...It's taken four years but Wikipedia finally launched a new HTML5 based video player and upload facility that will greatly simplify the video uploads to the site's millions of text-based pages without any video media right now.

According to the portal's press service the world's largest online encyclopedia, Wikipedia, has launched a new project enabling registered users to post videos to existing as well as new text based pages.

Editors of the encyclopedia will now be able to upload and edit video clips and add captions and subtitles. Wikipedia articles have remained largely text-based until now.

India Successfully test-fires nuclear capable Agni-III missile from Odisha

Read more...India today successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable Agni-III ballistic missile just after two days of the successful trial of the long-range intercontinental Agni-IV missile. Agni-III has a strike range of 3000 kilometers and was test-fired from an island off the Odisha coast.

The indigenously developed surface-to-air missile Agni-III can carry a nuclear or conventional warhead of 1.5 tonne protected by a carbon all composite heat shiel. Test was carried out at 1315 hours from a mobile launcher at launch complex-4 of Integrated Test Range at Wheeler Island, Odisha.
