From where can I find the latest updates on PNR Inquiry for Indian Railways & Airlines and can I book Tickets online on Internet?

I have some doubts about the risk involved in booking the tickets online on IRCTC and other sites for Airlines Bookings.

Airlines again have reduced their fares a lot so giving tough competition to Indian Railways. Most of the airlines are not making much profit out of low cast flights but all they want to do is to cover the market before their competitors do so. I hope in this war between Indian Railways and Low cost domestic airlines in India the winner will be common man like us.

PNR inquiry with Indian Railways was a tough task a few years back. I am using this service for last 4 years and what I found very interesting is that their servers are quiet fast now. They have improved a lot. Now their online ticket reservation and booking also accepts credit and debit cards from various banks in India so it is very easy for common people like me to get registered tickets from Indian Railways online. There are two options like I-Ticket adn E-Ticket. Both are very convenient for different kind of people. I hope they don't have this issue with online security. I have never faced any problems at least for now but internet security in India is now a major concern as lot and lot of people are booking their tickets online now with sites like that of Indian Railways.

Yes you are right. Security is a concern now but still I think that services in India are going to improve and for better. Sooner or later...

Tatkal reservation system is very good for those last minute travelers. Because of Tatkal system in Indian Railways sometimes we get reserved tickets even at the very last moments or when we have not planned our travel beforehand. Tatkal ticket booking along with PNR Inquiry is now also available online with both E-ticket and I-ticket booking at very minimal charges. Keep it up Indian Railways.

Tatkal tickets are very useful sometimes but usually it is very difficult to get tatkal tickets booked at the last moments. Most of the time they are not available and sometimes when they are available they are just too overcharged. I think it is a special service targeted at emergency needs of some specific kind of people and groups traveling through Indian Railways regularly.
